GSC: New Morenci Drilling Commences

Global Geoscience Ltd (“Global”) ( GSC) today announced that it has commenced diamond drilling at its New Morenci porphyry copper project in Arizona, USA. The Company said today that it planned to drill one diamond drill hole to test for secondary (oxide) copper mineralisation related to a porphyry intrusive system in the greater area. “The diamond drill hole currently underway will test for the presence of a buried secondary copper blanket similar in style to that observed at the Morenci mine located one kilometre to the south,” Global Geoscience Managing Director, Mr Bernard Rowe, said today. The New Morenci project is located 250km east of Phoenix in south-eastern Arizona, USA and one kilometre north of Freeport-McMoran’s Morenci copper mine. Morenci is one of North America’s largest producers of copper and one of the largest open-pit mines in the world. It has resources and past production totalling over 6 billion tonnes at 0.42% Cu. The Morenci open-pit exploits a buried blanket of supergene (oxide) copper mineralisation which extends over an area of at least 16 square kilometres. The blanket overlies a large subeconomic porphyry mineralized system located beneath the centre of the Morenci open-pit. The supergene copper was derived from the porphyry system during weathering. At Global’s New Morenci project, secondary copper mineralisation may be derived from the weathering of buried porphyry within the project area or as the result of the lateral movement of copper-rich solutions derived from the porphyry that sits beneath the Morenci mine. The hole is being drilled in an area covered by soil and scree where Global has identified anomalous levels of copper, molybdenum and bismuth in soil and rock samples. No previous drilling is known to have been completed in the area. About Global Geoscience Global Geoscience explores for gold, copper and molybdenum on its 100% owned projects in Peru and south-western USA. The company is focussed on making a major greenfield discovery. The Company is currently drilling at its Sara Sara copper-molybdenum project in Peru where it has one diamond and one RC rig working. That program is 75% complete and results will become available over the next several weeks.
